Good News! lassiter won 11-4, lhs was up a few points pretty much the whole game, fanning had a reallly nice one handed shot, and there was this one where the ball got checked and it bounced off someones stick or shoe or something and bounced like 5 mph. into the goal, ya westminsters goalie must have felt like crap afer that poor guy, any way, that was that game, so who will the trojans take on lovett or pace, game is saturday by the way

Ha! People were automatically counting out Lassiter because they "barely beat weslayen".
If Lovett tears though Pace (or vice versa) this could be a great championship. Plus it will be at Lassiter, so I only have to drive 5 minutes.

"ya westminsters goalie must have felt like crap afer that poor guy"
dude, shutup. you play JV.
maybe if you started on varsity as a goalie, youd understand that sometimes theres freak shots that go in, just ask crawford im sure hed agree. But dont attack our goalie, at least he played his ass off.
i dont know what you get out of saying something like that. seriously

lassiter you gotta chill, that kind of stuff happens all of the time. The other day there was a game on CSTV and syracuse shot bounced off the goalies leg, hit the post, bounced down as he was turning around and hit his stick and went in. there is nothing you can do about those. Im sure crawford has had a few of those before.
Very surprised by the score, I thought it would be closer. Did lassiter just ice them off the bat, and it took westmin forever to get going?

Wow. Interesting thread... Anyway, on the topic of goalies, Crawford played exceptionally well tonight. He had one of his best games, if not the best, ever tonight against Westminster. Fanning also played extremely well. Both stepped up and played like AAs. It was a fun game to watch. Lassiter was able to speed the game up and make it more physical, disrupting the Wildcat's gameplan. Saturday's game looks as if it will be one heck of a game... can't wait.
Just posted and saw that Krunklax posted and asked about the game and that Wildcat responded, so I'm going to add to my original post... Well Westminster scored relatively early in the first quarter to take the lead 1-0, but Lassiter led the remainder of the game. Fanning (5 goals total) got hot after Westminster scored. Bradshaw and Kelley added nice goals in the first half as well. As cliche or overconfident as this sounds, Lassiter just dominated the entire game. The defense played very well. Offensively, they finished well and made some nice shots. Also, the Trojans controlled the ground balls and as I said earlier accomplished their goal of making it a physical, fast-paced game. Once again, Crawford was amazing.

yeah, crawford definatley played out of his mind in this game, we just couldnt get shots to go our way...he was by far the most dominating player in the game and the main reason lassiter won tonight...

Sorry for the different username, I lost my password, but I am laxer.
Anyways, I recall statechamp saying that Lassiter would succeed if they could play well in a slow, controlled game.
The problem with this point is that you dont play the game your opponent wants you to play. You don't change how you play because your opponent wants you to. When the 49ers had Joe Montana and that incredible WC offense, and they went up against the best pass defense in the league, did they start becoming a running team? Hell no. They went into that game with the mindset that we're going to "do what we do", and make them prove that they're the best pass defense in the NFL. More times than not, the 49ers "did what they did".
You can't be successful by playing how your opponent wants to play, you MAKE your opponent play how YOU want to play, and that's just what Lassiter did. Lassiter is the fastest and strongest team in the state, and they MADE Westminster try and keep up with them, and they didn't let Westminster slow the game down, and that's why the outcome of this game was more one-sided than last time.
Lovett will not be Westminster, though. Lovett is fast, but Lassiter is faster. Lassiter beat Lovett last time because Lovett got pushed around. The actual game was more one-sided than the 11-6 score.
I predict Lassiter scores over 10 goals on Lovett and Lovett doesn't score 10 on Lassiter, regardless of the actual score. Rumor has it that Schultz should be healed up enough to return for the championship game, but they proved tonight that they can win without him, as good as a player as he is. We'll see.

laxer... agreed. That's exactly what I was trying to say. As for Lovett, we'll see. They always peak during playoffs, which is the sign of a well-coached team. I have also herad that Shultz says he'll play, but his injury sounded pretty serious, and I find it difficult to believe he's healthy. Should make for some interesting rumors...

Is the game going to be at Lassiter again? Hopefully last years jitters wont come back to lassiter and they will finally WIN a state title. Who replaced Shultz on first line tonight?

I didn't say that about lassiter slowing down or whatever. I was waaay wrong on my lassiter westminster prediction, my apologies for that I was really surprised to hear the score. I think it is going to be a state championship very simililar to last year. Lassiter is a good bit more athletic, but lovett I would say is better coached and has better stick skills. Hopefully for lassiter fans, fanning can do more this year than his one goal against our 3rd defenseman in the state championship last year. I'm not going to throw out a prediction yet, but neal hicks looked like a stud in the pace game today.

Taylor McCleskey (number 2) replaced Shultz on first line Tuesday night. He had been playing on second line, but a JV player Ricky Stevenson was brought up to fill his spot (he wore 42 Tuesday night). Shultz is still questionable for Saturday.
If Fanning and Hicks (based on what statechamp said) play anything like they did in the semis, it should be quite a show Saturday. Any word on the game time? It will be at Lasster, but I have heard the time depends on Lassiter boy's soccer and the time of the girl's lax championship game. Although they will be held at different locations, GHSA wants people to be able to see both... anyone know any "newer" information?

i dont know about shultz i was talking to a coach the day after it happened and he said it would take 12 weeks to heal and that his high school career was over, that would be cool though if it got better faster then they thought and he could play, and that was a while ago when coach said it so thats all i know about that

Well did he really break his collarbone or is it something else?
If it was his collarbone, there is no way he is getting back on the field.
