Hey guys,
Here is the info on the latest top 25 poll for the top college club teams from around the country. The USL MDIA national championship tournament will be held in Minnesota next week and the two SELC champion teams will be participating (Virginia Tech and Davidson College, along with Div. A runner-up Florida State).
Just some food for thought as you start thinking about college choices, etc.

The sixth regular season MDIA Division A Top 25 Poll Presented by Shamrock Lacrosse sees a new team emerge at the top of the heap as the MDIA regular season draws to a close, the BYU Cougars. Shamrock Lacrosse, an innovative lacrosse company based in Hillside, New Jersey is the presenting sponsor for this year’s Division A and Division B Top 25 polls announced bimonthly on USLIA.com once again this season.
No. 1 Brigham Young (13 – 3) received 22 out of a possible 30 first place votes and tallied 741 points in the latest poll. The Cougars earned the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Conference (RMLC) title with an 8 – 7 victory over No. 2 Colorado State on Saturday in snowy Greeley, Colorado. BYU avenged a regular season loss at home to Colorado State as the Cougars notched their first victory over their arch-rival since the 2002 season.
No. 2 Colorado State (15 – 1) received seven first place votes and 721 points as the Rams dropped one spot from the last poll. The Rams saw their perfect record end on Saturday with the one-goal loss to No. 1 BYU in the RMLC final.
No. 3 UC Santa Barbara (17 – 2) bumps up two spots with Sunday afternoon’s Western Collegiate Lacrosse League (WCLL) championship victory over No. 5 Sonoma State. The defending national champion Gauchos received 684 points after an 8 – 7 triumph over the fifth rated Seawolves in Orinda, California.
No. 4 Michigan (656 points; 1 First Place Vote) improved to 16 – 2 with Sunday afternoon’s victory over Oakland University in East Grand Rapids, Michigan. The Wolverines recaptured the Central Collegiate Lacrosse Association (CCLA) title with the win.
No. 5 Sonoma State (18 – 2) lost to No. 3 UCSB by one goal in the WCLL Championship and fell three slots in the rankings. The Seawolves (648 points) finished the regular season with an 18 – 2 mark.
No. 6 Colorado lost to No. 1 BYU in the RMLC semifinals by one goal. The Buffs (589 points) finished the regular season with an 11 – 6 record.
No. 7 Oregon won their second straight Pacific NW Collegiate Lacrosse League (PNCLL) title on Sunday afternoon with a 19 – 6 victory over Simon Fraser in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. The Ducks (567 points) posted a 12 – 4 mark during the ’05 regular season.
No. 8 Virginia Tech won their first ever SouthEastern Lacrosse Conference (SELC) championship back on April 24th with a one-goal victory over No. 10 Florida State. The Hokies finished with a 13 – 2 regular season record and earned 519 points in the poll.
No. 9 UC San Diego lost to No. 5 Sonoma State by five goals in the WCLL semifinals. The Tritons (501 points) posted a 12 – 3 mark during the regular season.
No. 10 Florida State (442 points) fell to No. 8 Virginia Tech in the SELC Championship. The Seminoles produced a 13 – 5 record during the ’05 regular season.
Other conference champions from this past weekend of MDIA lacrosse around the country include No. 13 Lindenwood, No. 16 Northeastern, No. 18 Minnesota, and No. 25 Texas Tech.
No. 13 Lindenwood capped a perfect 19 – 0 season with a victory in the Great Rivers Lacrosse Conference title game against Illinois at St. Charles, Missouri. The Lions earned 387 points in the poll.
No. 16 Northeastern (15 – 2) avenged their only regular season conference loss with a with a 3-goal victory over No. 20 New Hampshire to earn the 2005 Pioneer Collegiate Lacrosse League (PCLL) championship.
No. 18 Minnesota also avenged their only regular season conference loss en route to the 2005 Upper Midwest Lacrosse League (UMLL) crown. The Golden Gophers knocked off rival Minnesota-Duluth by two goals at the National Sports Center in Blaine, Minnesota on Sunday afternoon. This was Minnesota’s first victory over Duluth since the 1999 UMLL Championship game.
No. 25 Texas Tech beat Texas 12 - 6 for the 2005 Lone Star Alliance title yesterday afternoon at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. The Red Raiders (11 – 5) were also able to avenge an earlier regular season loss to earn the ’05 conference championship.
The final 2005 MDIA Division A Top 25 Poll Presented by Shamrock Lacrosse will be announced on USLIA.com the week of May 23 – 27 following the completion of the USL MDIA National Championships in Blaine, Minnesota.

The 2004-2005 season is the 9th year of Intercollegiate Associates competition. The USL Men’s Division Intercollegiate Associates consists of over 190 collegiate lacrosse clubs in nine conferences across the United States & Canada. The season concludes with the annual MDIA national championship tournament, scheduled for the National Sports Center (NSC) in Blaine, Minnesota May 10 – 14th, 2005.
