Nope, completely seporate things. All state teams are completely unrelated to all american. All state is basically 2 teams (and an honorable mention list) of the best players in georgia. For example, they take I think 4 of the best attackman from the state, and thats 1st team all state attack. The next 4ish go on the 2nd team, past that is honorable mention. Repeat the same process for middie, goalie, defense, and LSM, and there are your all state teams. Like this year, Fanning will be on both 1st team all state at attack and will be an All American.
Hope that explains it well.

to add to that list...Battey from Westminster made 1st team midfield.
Also and interesting side note, 10th grader Sean OBerry made 1st team attack, and his older brother 12th grader Mackenzie OBerry didnt even make it...id kill him if i was mac, especially since i think mac is better.

Heres westminster's all state guys
Dennis Love (#2) -1st team all-state attack, All American
Patrick Battey(#20) - 1st team middie
Foster Durkee (#9) - 2nd team defense
David Perrin (#11) - honorable mention goalie
Glenn Dorris(#8) - all league defense
Not that many guys, but still a solid team. i feel like our other 2 attackmen got jipped - our leading scorer, #16 tom davis didnt get anything, and neither did will bryant, #1, who probably has the most ground balls...

foster durkee played middie defense his freshman and sophmore year, played on team georgia last year and is going to this year as well.
Bo Kimball is #22, our other defenseman, who also shouldve gotten some recognition but didnt. Last year he shut down logan erickson in the west-lassiter playoff game and erickson didnt score a goal.
